friend." She made a little cross sign over her heart.
"Lawyers do work long hours, but I sort of went way overboard with it. I
forgot to have a life as well as a job, and the one time I tried to have a
relationship with someone, I put work first and lost a truly amazing man.
He lives here, actually. Levi Astor? And I think we've made peace with one
another, and put it behind us. Or, rather, I've put it behind me. He's
found someone who makes him happy, and I'm happy for him."
As Samantha sat and fiddled with the menu, she was careful with the things
she touched, hovering a little before picking them up, and praying she
didn't "feel" anything on the table. Thankfully, she didn't and finally
relaxed.
